Merrie Maryam is a heartfelt tribute to the Merrie Monarch Festival in Hilo, the world’s premier celebration of hula. This piece captures the grace and power of hula dancers—the way they move in harmony with the music, the pride shining in the eyes of the kumu, and the vibrant energy that fills the space.

Interwoven into the artwork is a handwritten verse by the beloved Persian poet Hafiz, penned by my uncle, adding a layer of soulful connection. It bridges two cultures that celebrate storytelling through movement and poetry, honoring the beauty of both.
